Shooting Star Children's Charity

Mission Express has always been involved in supporting local charities and has pleasure to advise its support given for 2020.

As in previous years Mission Express has taken the decision to divert the funds allocated to Customer Christmas Gifts to our main charity that we supported for over fourteen years, The Shooting Star Children's Hospice based in Hampton Middx.

We are confident that all our customers would support us in this decision and enables us to give as much as we can for this children's hospice especially at this time of year.

With your help, Mission Express has been able to support the charity this year and we are very grateful for your business to enable us to do this.

The Shooting Star Children's Hospice provides care, support and advice for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families. These care services are offered free of charge to families, 365 days a year across the western half of London and north Surrey.

The care services are based around the needs of the whole family, so as well as caring for the children and young people, there are activities for siblings and support groups for parents and grandparents. This makes a real difference to families who find themselves in unimaginable circumstances - helping them live life to the full by providing opportunities for fun and laughter, as well as helping them through the tougher times.

Families benefit from Shooting Star's care services in the community, in their own homes and at Shooting Star House, the purpose-built facility based in Hampton, Middlesex. These services include Short Breaks, Outreach Care, Day Care, Family Support and Therapies and End of Life Care.
It costs £3.5 million every year (£9,500 a day) to maintain these care services and with no long-term statutory funding, the majority of this comes from voluntary donations.

We would like to thank all our customers for their support this year and for enabling Mission Express to make these donations to worthy charities and associations at this time of year.

Jez & Arthur

Jez is a British military veteran with a little dog called Arthur.

He has been living on the street for five years following his release from the armed forces.

Down on his luck with little hope to hold onto but never giving up.

Jez  and Arthur found themselves sleeping in a railway subway in West Byfleet Surrey.

We be-friended Jez and Arthur and bought to him hot meals of an evening and food for Arthur.

Jez and Arthur became characters in the village always being cheerful and respectful to others.

The village decided to start a "crowd funding" for Jez and Arthur to help them get back into society.

We have supported that fund and also bought Jez some winter clothes and Arthur a new doggy bed.

He now lives in a shared house in Woking with three other military veterans and can obtain a bank account and local government support to help him.

Arthur is happy!

We will continue to support Jez and Arthur.
