I would like to update you on everything we are doing here at Mission Express to keep you and our colleagues safe when you work with us.
We have updated our COVID-19 policy, therefore face coverings must be worn (unless exempt) by our Driver Team when collecting and delivering your parcels.
All our locations have new signs and posters with our new policy next to them as we also request our partners/suppliers to adhere to the face-covering rule.
We continue to thoroughly clean our facilities and vehicles to comply with the current Government guidelines. All staff and locations have plenty of cleaning products including hand sanitiser.
The safety of staff, customers and suppliers is the priority for Mission Express and I thank you for your continued support.
We will remain the logistics provider of choice by ensuring the health and safety of our colleagues and the exceptional level of service provided.

National Lockdown

Dear Valued Customer,
Today again we have the news of a national lockdown for the UK.
This message is to confirm that Mission Express continues to operate ensuring your consignments are collected and delivered on time. We have initiated our contingency plan which we know is proven to work well.
We have updated our staff on continuing our COVID-19 safe protocols. We all have a full and large stock of PPE and all our partners will continue to be monitored for compliance.
Whether you need to distribute your own PPE or homeworking equipment to your teams at home or continue to sell your products overseas, Mission Express is ready, and therefore so are you!

UK - Tier 4 Operations

Dear Valued Customer,
In light of the new Tier 4 introduced to certain parts of the UK this weekend we would like to update you on our contingency planning.
-
We have introduced a rotation system (weekly basis) to our warehouse and driver colleagues. We have created tighter “bubbles” so that we can continue to protect our staff and continue to operate at the high levels you expect.

We may ask you to bring collections times earlier so that we do not have our drivers arriving to the Heathrow facility at the same time (staggered approach)
-
Our networks are still operating at high levels however, we are expecting some disruption and have initiated our Business Continuity Plan for UK and Worldwide delivery.

We encourage you to make use of our online portal for booking collections, raising paperwork and tracking consignments before calling us.
Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of the Mission Express team and we believe these measures secures that and again, allows us to operate at a high level.
We are also committed to you and we are very grateful for your continued support.
These are unprecedented times but for the work that we do for you, we are prepared and the dedication of the team here has proven this since the pandemic started back in March of this year.

Covid-19 / Emergency Situation Surcharges

Please find the updated COVID-19/Emergency Situation Surcharge chart below which is now based on a regional level for ease of use.
Mission Express continually review our service options and we are pleased to advise that we have continued to offer the ECOPACK service to the USA for shipments up to 2.5 kilos.
This provides a cost effective method of shipping with slightly longer transit times but with all the benefits of the express service such as tracking and POD (consignment value limit of 800 USD applies).

"Contact free" Deliveries
We would like to remind and update all customers on the current "contact free" delivery procedures that are in place at this time.
1: The driver places the item at the door to the receiver
2: The driver rings the bell or knocks the door and steps back
3: The driver waits for the door to open and the parcel is received
If the above procedure is not able to be completed and in the absence of alternative instructions such as "OK to leave safe" or "OK to deliver to neighbour" the address would be carded and the consignment returned to the depot and entered into the "undelivered" process as a normal procedure.
Please ensure that if you wish to give alternative delivery instructions that these are clearly detailed on the booking by way of email or in the "special instructions" field.

USA - Mail Services
Please note that from 1st July 2020 a new increased pricing structure will be implemented for all goods sent on a postal service tracked and un-tracked to the USA.
Unfortunately these prices are beyond our control and all part of a deal between the USPS and UPU to avoid them leaving the global postal network agreement, below is a link to an article detailing out why and how this has occurred
All postal authorities across the globe will be affected by these increases set out by the USPS
We are currently working with all our partners to make sure we offer the most cost effective options for when these changes occur and will advise on your new prices over the coming weeks, all prices submitted WILL be effective from 1st July 2020

Easing of the lock-down / Return to the workplace - RFI

South Africa.
The outbreak of Covid-19 resulted in the suspension of all passenger aircraft in and out of South Africa, which in turn resulted in our courier route being suspended. South Africa still has severe lock-down restrictions, which also restricts a large range of commodities from being transported within the country. The list of Government exempted items changes on a regular basis and we are now seeing more items being allowed for transport than before.
We also have had confirmation of a limited number of commercial flights resuming into Johannesburg. The airlines have unfortunately temporarily suspended tariff agreements and implemented a Covid related charge to recoup lost revenue on their flights.
We therefore have to implement a temporary ESS levy with an additional £2.95 per kg with a minimum of £2.95 to cover the additional airline outlay. For more information, contact us.
On the basis of the above we will resume our service into South Africa but do need to stress that service transit times will be affected. with the depleted local SA Customs team and local delivery restrictions.
Most businesses are still closed, but we will hold shipments locally until they re-open.

As part of the UK Governments COVID-19 measures, it is now the case that companies exporting Personal Protection Equipment from the UK to destinations outside of the European Union will need to have an Export License in place.
This summary below is from www.gov.uk:
During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, anyone wishing to export personal protective equipment (PPE) to areas outside the EU, European Free Trade Association member states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) and certain other territories will temporarily need a PPE export licence. Goods include the following kinds of products which provide the wearer with protection against potentially infectious material:

Airlines and carriers have issued another wave of International and European shipping route suspensions and those routes and services that currently remain operational are increasing subject to temporary operational cost increases with Emergency Shipping Surcharges (ESS) being applied.
With affect from April 4th all agreed Customer International & European courier, freight, e-commerce and mail tariffs are temporarily suspended.
All International & European dispatches will need to pre-quoted for you given current circumstances.

We are now experiencing and having reports of increased service and operational delays within the International mail systems.
Many routes have now been stopped or severely interupted and operating costs are increasing.
With immediate affect all agreed mail tariffs are suspended and all International mail dispatches will need to be pre-quoted.

UK mail remains operational with some delays to be expected and no changes in rating.

Both UK and International services are operating wherever possible, but we are experiencing changes in travel restrictions, timetables and carrier cut-offs on a daily basis.
We are offering collections between the hours of 10:00 and 14:00 and ask that bookings are made by 12 noon for collections that day in London & within the M25.
Pick and pack orders will be processed between the hours of 10:00 and 14:00.
Bookings received after 12 noon for that day, where geographically possible would need to be confirmed by our Customer Services team, if not, will be made the following working day.
Same-day movements, as normal, will need to go through our Customer Services department.

Nigeria and Sudan service suspension until 6th April.
Bangladesh:
Service suspended until further notice.
Caribbean, Central & South America:
Service suspensions reported in Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela. Full and partial lockdowns ongoing.
Expect delays in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
Aruba & Bahamas are experiencing customs delays with priority given to medical supplies.
China:
Expect delays of 2-3 working days due to stringent traffic control and inspection measures throughout Mainland China.
Italy:
Expect delivery delays during the 'Lock-down' period which is expected to be extended beyond 3rd April.
We advise against sending shipments to business addresses during this time as many offices and places of work are closed.
Rest of EU:
Service disruption is expected throughout the EU with local business closures and restricted movement.
Deliveries to places of work may be delayed.
Delivery Drivers will not be requesting signatures for safety reasons.
India:
Service suspended until 15th April 2020.
Israel:
Delays of 2-3 working days reported.
Japan:
Express: No interruptions to operations or delivery service.
Economy: Minor delays of 1-2 working days due to flight capacity between Hong Kong and Taipei where our service hub is located.
Macao:
Delivery delays between 1-2 working days expected for all services.
Malaysia:
Expect minor delays due to partial lockdown imposed which is now extended to 14th April 2020.
We advise against shipping to Business as many ‘non-essential’ organisations are closed.
Middle East:
Azerbaijan and Jordan 2 week service suspension.
Nepal:
Service suspended no flights until 17th of April.
Oman:
The government has declared a complete lock down from 1st April until further notice.
Please note we expect a further update on this and will advise accordingly.
Philippines:
Services have been temporarily suspended until 13th April 2020 due to Government travel restrictions.
Singapore:
Please note we have flight connection delays to Singapore; shipments are currently routed via other carriers please expect delays of 2-3 days.
South Africa:
Service currently suspended due to a lack of linehaul options.
South Korea:
Express: In country delivery delays due to reduced workforce.
Economy: Minor delays of 1-2 working days due to flight capacity between Hong Kong and Taipei where our service hub is located.
In country delivery delays due to reduced workforce.
Sri Lanka:
Local Government has banned all passenger aircraft until end of May, update to follow.
Deliveries have also been suspended until further notice due to curfew imposed.
Taiwan:
Minor delays of 1-2 working days due to reduced flight capacity to Taipei.
No delivery delays in country.
UAE:
Dubai locked down one of the city’s densely populated areas in efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
No one will be allowed to leave or enter Al Ras Area for two weeks from Tuesday 31st March,
There will be heightened restrictions on the movement of people and traffic to facilitate sterilization of the area.
All the shops and companies are closed and the residents will not be able to step out of their apartments / buildings until the government remove the lock down notice.

Passenger flights between UK and US now suspended with airlines operating a cargo service only.
Surcharges will apply for all direct courier and cargo services.

We advise against sending B2B shipments to CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, HI, ID, IL, KY, LA, MO, MI, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TN and TX.

United Kingdom - Operational Update
The 9am delivery service option is temporarily suspended via the UK courier overnight service.
Special delivery options are available upon request.
Emergency Situation Surcharge (ESS) surcharges
As the UK braces itself for the peak of the COVID-19 epidemic flights to key routes have reduced considerably due to a drop in passenger numbers following movement restrictions imposed by many Governments worldwide.
While there is undoubtedly an appetite for cargo capacity it is not economically viable for commercial airlines to operate at existing tariffs.
As a result many carriers have introduced rate increases or surcharges to keep their planes in the sky to service this demand.
Mission Express will have to apply these surcharges on top of our existing Tariffs.
We are currently receiving a lot of information from airlines and carriers regarding their intentions.on these temporary surcharges.and will advise you accordingly.
The situation is being monitored on a daily basis and we trust will only be a short term measure during these difficult times.

All International mail dispatch is currently being pre-quoted as contract rates are temporarily suspended during this time.
UK mail has seen a nominal cost increase on both 1st & 2nd Class services.
Effective April 3 - All agreed customer mailing tariffs are temporarily suspended with all International mail dispatch costs to be pre-quoted.

Temporary shipping surcharge per waybill for 0.5 kilo shipments: £0.25 per kilo / £1.20 min
1 kilos and over shipments the General Courier ESS applies.

As of close of business March 24th, I made the decision to place our operational staff on call from home. This reduces the risk to our staff and enables us to still provide a service to our customers, all be it restricted.
Both UK and International services are operating wherever possible, but we are experiencing changes in travel restrictions, timetables and carrier cut-offs on a daily basis.
As of the 25th March, we will be offering collections between the hours of 10:00 and 14:00 and ask that bookings are made by 12 noon for collections that day in London & within the M25.
Pick and pack orders will be processed between the hours of 10:00 and 14:00.
Bookings received after 12 noon for that day, where geographically possible would need to be confirmed by our Customer Services team, if not, will be made the following working day.
Same-day movements, as normal, will need to go through our Customer Services department.
